We've teamed up with SpunOut.ie
SPIN South West and SpunOut.ie have teamed up to make sure you’re minding yourself throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
We get it's hard to get your head around some of the changes you may be experiencing from your work life to dealing with extra anxiety and exam stress.
But what matters is that you speak with someone if it all gets too much or you need some guidance.
Coping with exam stress
These are challenging times when it comes to preparing for exams so it’s okay if you are feeling stressed or worried about them.
Here are some things to keep in mind to help manage your feelings of stress.
Focus on what you can control
We can’t control what will happen when it comes to our exams so it’s best to prepare for them as if they are still going ahead as planned.
Focus on what you can control, such as your study routine.
It’s the best way to keep your mind on track.
Trying techniques such as mindfulness might help to keep you focused.
Try to create a routine and study space
Having a study space that is different to where you relax or sleep is important.
If you can, create your own space that is away from noise and other distractions.
Putting together a study timetable with scheduled breaks can help manage stress as you know you have given time to each subject.
Ask for support from those you live with
Explain to those you live with how important it is that you have a quiet space to study.
Ask if they can help you to create a study space away from others in the house.
Spending time with the same people for a long period of time can be difficult, especially while trying to study.

Take breaks
Taking regular breaks is critical for us to process and remember information.
When you do take a break, move away from the space you are studying in, so you recognise and feel that you have taken a break.
Getting fresh air or doing exercise is good for our wellbeing.

Don’t be too hard on yourself
It’s understandable if you have days where you feel stressed, or unmotivated.
These are normal feelings to have.
Try to do as much as you can to stay focused and doing a little each day should help you to feel less stressed in the long run.

Talk to someone
If you are overwhelmed with feelings of stress around your exams, sharing this with someone else can help you feel better and it means that you will have the support of that person over the next few weeks and months.
