150 Munster caps, 50 Irish caps and Lions tour later, CJ Stander has announced he's stepping away from rugby "in all forms".
In a statement published on his social media channels, Stander said he's hanging up his boots to focus more on his family.
"I came to the realisation that my commitment to rugby has started to take an unfair toll on my family, both in Limerick and South Africa."
All professional sports people are told “you will know when the time is right to hang up your boots”. It’s a sentiment one cannot fully comprehend until that day arrives.
For me, that time has come, and I hereby publicly announce my retirement from all forms of rugby. pic.twitter.com/KK5zgWC0O1— C J Stander (@CJStander) March 16, 2021
He said he always wanted to raise his family in South Africa, and that's what he intends to do.
But the ruby legend still holds his time in his adopted close very dear.
"The 150 matches I played for Munster were some of the most precious and formative experiences of my life."
"My blood will remain Munster Red for long after I have said my goodbyes to the people of Limerick."

With a summer tour Down Under to face the Pacific Island nations looking increasingly unlikely - the final Six Nations match of the year looks to be his last chance to wear the green jersey.
Stander would still be available to play for the British and Irish Lions who have yet to confirm details of where they'll play their series against South Africa.
