Teenagers and children under the age of 18 will no longer be able to buy vapes.
Last night, TDs voted in favour of measures which include an advertising ban of vaping products around schools and on public transport.
A strict license will also be introduced for retailers who wish to sell the products, making it illegal for them to do so for anyone under the age of 18.
It's hoped these new laws will be in place before Christmas.
The bill will first have to go to the Seanad, and if it gets the green light there, the President will be asked to sign it into law.
Speaking this morning, The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said vapes will no longer be sold in vending machines either.
"What this is going to do, it's going to ban the sale of vapes to children, to those under the age of 18.
I'd like to get it to the Seanad in the coming weeks, and to the President and hopefully he'll sign it. So, I'd like to have this enacted before Christmas."
Minister Donnelly also said this new legislation is a step towards his further plans to ban disposable vaped completely down the line.
"It does other things. It brings in a licensing system for the sale of tobacco and vapes."
Last month, it was revealed that 1 in 3 teenagers in Ireland use vapes.
Those same teenagers admit they never smoked prior to taking up the use of E-cigarettes.
Young people that took part in the study felt that the marketing of vapes directly targets them, with a “toy-like” attraction and display of the products in terms of flavour, colour, and personalisation.
