The jury in the trial of an Irish celebrity accused of the defilement of a child has gone home for the evening.
The man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, denies three charges of engaging in sexual acts with a 16-year-old girl in Dublin in 2010.
The Judge has told the jurors this is essentially a case of one person’s word against another’s saying the allegations are 13 years old which makes their task more difficult.
The complainant says the celebrity engaged in 3 sexual acts with her in 2010 and he knew she was 16 and asked her to keep a secret.
But he says these allegations never happened with a second line of defence that he always thought she was above the legal age of 17.
The jurors began considering their verdict this morning and had been deliberating for over 3 hours when they returned with some questions.
They have now retired for the evening.
