A motive for an early morning shooting in Cork has yet to be established.
It happened in the Wilton area of the city between five o'clock and quarter-to-six this morning.
A 42-year-old man presented himself at Cork University Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Gardaí are examining CCTV footage in the area, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
