Whale spotted in Dublin

A whale spotted in Dublin Port is thought to be a type very rarely found along the east coast of Ireland.

Experts say they're ready to help it back to sea, but don't believe it will survive.

This whale was first spotted near the Dublin coastline by people walking in Sutton on Tuesday.

Since then, it's been seen blowing water in between boats and ships in Dublin Port.

Experts have been trying to figure out what type of whale it is, but suspect it is a young fin whale.

Teams say the whale is probably stressed, confused and - even if helped back to sea - will probably die.

Dr Simon Berrow from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group says it looks like a young, small, whale.

"It looks in quite poor condition, it's presumably disorientated and I'd say it's possibly going to die".

Teams are on the ground trying to figure out what type of whale it is.

They will then make a plan to help it move out of the port, if it is seen again.

However, Dr. Berrow said even if the whale is helped back out "it will probably end up stranding and dying".

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group has described the sighting of a whale blowing as "really unusual".
