Whale has died
A whale has died that was spotted in Dublin Port this week.
Port authorities say they are now going to "let nature take its course".
This is the end animal experts had predicted.
The young fin whale was first spotted close to the shore of Sutton at the start of the week.
Its type never normally found in shallow waters, especially anywhere near Dublin, and it wasn't in good health.
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group described the sighting of a whale blowing in Dublin as "really unusual".
Conal O'Flanagan said the whale was spotted "floating in Dublin Port overnight".
He admitted its death "is not a surprise".
"When a whale is seen in shallower water, we always expect something to go wrong".
Dublin Port Company is now towing the whale's remains out to sea to dispose of them.
