People are being reminded to play it safe around the water during the heatwave.
Temperatures across the country have soared to the mid- to high-twenties.
Roger Sweeney from Irish Water Safety says alcohol plays a major role in drowning incidents in Ireland.
"Alcohol lulls people into a false sense of security," he said. "People can underestimate the risk, but they'll also overestimate their own ability -- and that's when people drown."
