In 2020, the American Food and Drug Administration approved their first 'prescription' video game.
The developers aim to replicate techniques used in cognitive behavioural therapy.
The games aren't considered a replacement for therapists or visiting mental health experts.
It's expected they work best on those with mild to moderate mental health conditions.
