Gardai are appealing to young men to think of the consequences of getting involved in a fight.
New figures show assaults are at their highest level in ten years. The statistics show the majority of the attackers are young men aged from 18 to 35.
Most of the assaults took place on Saturday night and in public places.
Around 5,400 assaults have been reported so far this year.
