UCD rent increases
Students have pitched tents at the main entrance gates to UCD in their fight against rent increases.
It’s the latest in their series of rallies against the hikes at the Dublin university.
Rents at UCD are already the most expensive in the country costing anywhere between €7,000 to €11,000 per term.

There are now also plans to increase them further by 12% over the next three years.
UCD students held a rally last week and handed in a petition to management asking for this to be reversed.
Yesterday they say they got word the hikes are still going ahead so in the past few hours they’ve pitched tents at the main entrance to the University in protest.

A similar demonstration has been happening at University College Cork for the past few days.
While another rally is also being planned for on campus here at UCD next Wednesday.
UCD Management says its position is the same which is rents are going up to maintain accommodation and also to build more.
