The News Has Angered Students
Student reps have reacted with anger at the decision by UCD.
Student Union President Joanna Siewierska says it's already expensive and people find it hard to secure a spot.
"We already have the most expensive student accommodation in the country."
"A lot of our first year students rely on the on campus accommodation, especially if they're coming from outside of Dublin."
"This is just going to put additional strain on their families."
It's nearly 5am and I'm still juggling around my CAO choices.
Would it be stupid to put down film in UCD as my second choice when I know that if I get it I'll probably have to share a room with 12 other people for 4 years since that's the only way I'll ever afford rent?— Trash Panda 🦝🏳️🌈 (@FreshBarryPie) January 31, 2020
"Incredibly Frustrating"
She says students are already finding it hard.
"The University is well aware how important this is to us."
"For them to still turn around and make such an important decision without any consultation."
"It's just incredibly frustrating."
UCD has previously complained about funding.
