Two men have been arrested after a note claiming explosives were on board a Ryanair flight was found on the airplane.
The five o'clock Krakow to Dublin evening flight was cruising over the North Sea yesterday when the alarm was raised.
Pilots declared the emergency to air traffic control in the UK at around twenty to seven.
Security Alert - Rapid Response Jets Scrambled
Two Eurofighter Typhoon jets were scrambled from the RAF airbase in Lincolnshire to intercept the airliner.
RAF pilots then escorted the Ryanair jet to the nearest airport - London Stanstead.
While the alert was taken seriously, all passengers left the aircraft by nine o'clock last night.
Essex police held the plane at a remote stand last night while they carried out inquiries.
