A teenage boy is to appear before Limerick City District Court today charged in relation to the theft of 14 bicycles. They were stolen over a three month period earlier this year.
Gardai arrested the teenager in connection with the offences yesterday.
He was brought to Henry Street Gardaí Station and was subsequently charged, with the thefts that took place between August and November of this year.
Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Ber Leech has advised anyone who has a bike stolen to report it immediately.
Sgt Leech added that bikes should be secured tightly to an immovable object and the lock be kept off the ground to make it more difficult for a thief.
Recent figures from the Gardaí's 'Lock It Or Lose It' campaign show that over 14 thousand bikes have been stolen since 2016.
In addition, the analysis also shows that Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway make up 83 percent of the places where bike thefts occur.
The juvenile in this case will appear before Limerick City District Court this afternoon.
