A new sex education programme developed by Bishops for Catholic primary schools has been released.
It says, sexual love belongs within a committed relationship and marriage is a sacrament of commitment.
They've called it Flourish.
It's for children from junior infants to sixth class, says sex and puberty are a "gift from god".
When discussing LGBT issues:
So it advises the teaching in relation to marriage between a man and a woman "cannot be omitted”.
Why does religious ethos creep into sex ed? In history we don't teach that Columbus was guided by the hand of God. Or in geography we don't tell children that oxbow lakes are God's creation. So why tell kids in sex ed that puberty is a gift from God?? https://t.co/JiW9aWcZkJ

Labelling LGBT Relationships "Different" Could Be Harmful
Mick Barry, Solidarity TD, says the programme should be impartial:
"Different types of gender, contraception, abortion and above all the question of consent."
He says, "if you want to challenge the porn-ification of sex and society, then objective sexual education is what you need."
