An advocacy group says the increase in the number of people infected with HIV in Ireland is a cause for concern.
16 people were diagnosed with the disease last week alone.
Executive Director with HIV Ireland Niall Mulligan says its a worrying trend.
"We've had 239 people diagnosed this year with HIV so far this year. It's round about 8 ahead of the same time last year, and last year would have been provisionally the highest number on record, he said.
"It's becoming the norm, but it's highly worrying."
