A Status Yellow rain warning will come into effect at 3pm today for 12 counties.
Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Galway and all of Munster are to experience heavy rainfall.
A further seven counties will come under a Yellow wind warning from 3pm this afternoon.
Meteorologist at Met Eireann Gerry Murphy explains which counties will be affected.
Murphy says there will be a yellow wind warning for Cork, Waterford and into Wexford as well as in to Leinster because of very strong south easterly winds.
It is expected that there will be heavy rain and potentially localised flooding in Munster.
Motorists in the affected areas are being advised to drive slowly as there will be reduced visibility and conditions will be poor.
