Anyone who has booked an 'all-inclusive' holiday to the Balearic Islands in Spain this summer is being urged to check if their resort comes under new rules to clamp down on drinking.
Guests at hotels in certain resorts in Majorca and Ibiza will now only be allowed 6 alcoholic drinks per day as part of their 'all-inclusive' deal, 3 at lunch and another 3 with dinner.
It only applies to San Antonio in Ibiza and the beach resorts of Magaluf, El Arenal and Playa de Palma in Mallorca.
Other new rules include bans on pub crawls, happy hours, and two-for-one drinks offers, while shops in affected resorts will be banned from selling alcohol after 9.30 pm during the holiday season.
ADVICE
Michelle Walsh-Jackson from the Novel traveller website says if you've made a booking then you need to contact your hotel or travel agent.
"If you're not going to one of these three resorts, and specific parts of the resorts I have to add, your hotel won't be included in this.
"This is a specific issue that the Spanish are trying to target to make it more comfortable for everybody who's going on their holidays there.
"It's not a blanket ban so you do need to check, that is the first thing I would do if I booked that holiday."
