While former President Barack Obama, the third most followed person in the world – took a hit of 2.3 million while current president Donald Trump lost only 305,000.
The social media firm reckoned most people would lose around four followers.
It's carried out a purge - after concerns about so-called 'fake news' and 'bots' on the platform.
