Colder than normal temperatures could see snow falling today.
Met Éireann says rain will turn to sleet and snow in parts of Munster and Leinster this afternoon and evening.
Showers in the west are forecast to merge to a more persistent spell of heavy rain this morning, with a risk of hail and thunder. The rain will spread to most areas later today.

While separately a status yellow rain warning has been issued for seven counties.
Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wicklow, Offaly and Tipperary are all under the warning from two o'clock this afternoon.
Met Éireann says spells of heavy rain is likely to lead to some spot flooding.
