Rural coalition TDs have received assurances that proposals for a ban on the sale of turf won't go ahead as planned.
They voted with the government in the Dail last night, which saw a Sinn Fein motion to scrap the ban defeated.
The motion also proposed to cancel the upcoming carbon tax increase and temporarily remove excise duty on home heating oil.
Fianna Fail Senator, Eugene Murphy, says he and his party colleagues have been given assurances on the ban:
"We've already been told that anybody with turbary rights their bogs are okay."
"But there is an issue with the 500 people in a village."
"I personally don't think that's workable."
"That is one issue we're going to have to work on."
