The forest fire risk this weekend remains high, with parched vegetation.

Also, more people out and about enjoying nature.

Coillte says campfires and barbecues are the most common cause of wildfires in Ireland.

It adds that they're rarely the result of natural causes.

Firefighters and forestry workers are keeping a close watch this weekend.

Last year fires cost the state forestry agency €1.3 million in clean-up cost and destroyed timber.

No Forest Fires Yet

So far this weekend, there no fires have broken out.

Coillte's estates risk manager Mick Power wants to keep it that way:

"I'd always stress to anyone, you could end up being that person in the eye of a fire."

He says a fire in Donegal recently was days of "touch and go" where houses were at risk.

"That is a deadly dangerous recipe."
