Back in January, the Dáil voted to lift the legislation closing pubs in Ireland on Good Friday.
This means that puns will open today for the first time since 1927.
It is sure to be a busy night across the country with many people taking advantage of this historic move and the long weekend to recover from tonight's antics.

The VFI says the extra day's business is expected to generate over €40m in sales.
