Phil Hogan will step down from his position as EU Trade Commissioner tonight, following the GolfGate controversy.
It follows an investigation by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen into his involvement in the Oireachtas Golf Society Dinner.
Also his movements in Ireland in the days around it.
The row has already cost Fianna Fáil's Dara Calleary his job as Agriculture Minister after just 35 days in office.

O'Reilly: Hogan Should Have Resigned Long Ago

"He resisted that."
"It took attention away from what we should be, and what the government, should be focusing on right now."

Kelly Calls It A 'Sad End' For The Former Fine Gael TD
Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly says it's a sad end to Phil Hogan's time as European Commissioner for Trade.
"I'm very disappointed for him personally."
"I know that there was a grievous errors of judgement, that cannot be condoned."
"The price to pay for them is enormous."
"It's one of the biggest jobs in Europe, he has lost his job where others have lost positions."
"There's a difference between losing a position, such as a Minister or a Chairman of a committee, as opposed to losing your job."
