Detailed plans for Capel Street are due in March.
95% Dubliners support improved pedestrianisation here and the Council promised to bring forward proposals to deliver that.
Hopefully we will see long term improvements in place by this summer. 🤞🥂🌞 pic.twitter.com/qBNQD4gv7k— Janet Horner (@JanetPHorner) January 11, 2022
2021 Trial
The Council ran a public survey last year.
It found that 8 in 10 people wanted a permanent car ban along the street.
The Council ran a trial on the system last summer.
The pedestrianisation of Capel Street and Parliament Street makes Dublin feel like the city it has always been trying to be. Rare to experience a similar atmosphere in Ireland. pic.twitter.com/UIRjkxFmPe
