A cargo of 33,000 tonnes of corn from Ukraine arrived today in Foynes, in Co. Limerick.

It follows the international agreement brokered by the United Nations and Turkey, to facilitate the export of grain and other agricultural goods from Ukraine, to Ireland.

The Navi Star shipment arrived around 2pm to the Irish grain and feed company R&H Hall.

It will be unloaded into storage before being collected by customers in the coming weeks.

Philip Lynch from R&H Hall has thanked the ship and crew for making the journey - which had originally been planned in February, before the war intervened:

"We're delighted to see the successful arrival of the Navi Star Vessel. It brings an end to months of uncertainty for all involved, but especially the captain and the crew".
