Sinn Féin says the government has "no plan" to tackle the rising cost of rent in Dublin city.
ECA International has ranked Dublin the fifth most expensive European city for tenants.
While rent has jumped on average €207 per month in 2020.
Dublin is more expensive that other EU capitals like Paris at €3,461, Berlin at €2,354, and Madrid at €2,393.
However London remains at the top of the list, at €6,115 per month, that's for a three bed, mid-range home.
Sinn Fein Says "Government has no plan."
Sinn Féin’s Housing Spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin says the government is prioritising short term accommodation over long term leases:
"We don't have enough rental properties, rents are too high."
"Government is using the tax code to attract the wrong kinds of investors."
He says those are "short term, high yield," and expensive units.
"When what we need of course is large volumes of affordable rental accommodation for working people."
