New Homes Needed For Abandoned Puppies

The ISPCA says the 6 puppies it found abandoned in Co. Longford are getting stronger by the day.

The pups were just a few days old when they were discovered in a cardboard box on the roadside in Granard.

Since being rescued last month, Jessie, Henry, Penny, Hayley, Buzz (pictured) and Woody have been hand-fed by volunteers.

Hugh O'Toole, ISPCA Centre Manager, says young puppies should never be left without their mother.

"They were obviously abandoned because someone didn't want to take care of them," he said.

"If they're left for more than a few hours or half a day they can die -- they're very vulnerable to cold and starvation.

That's why we're urging people to neuter and spay their pets rather than get into this situation in the first place," he added.

The charity is asking anyone interested in rehoming a pup to email [email protected] or visit their website.
