The Minister of State for Disabilities has announced plans for an Autism Innovation Strategy.
Anne Rabbitte says she's keen to deliver solutions to the 'challenges, needs and experiences' of people with Autism.
The Minister will chair a Working Group, as soon as it's been established.
She says it's an 'amazing opportunity' for Ireland to be a world-leading Autism friendly society.
The charity 'As I Am' has welcomed the news, on World Autism Awareness Day today.
CEO Adam Harris says demand for services has almost trebled because of the pandemic:
"We've seen the loss of routine and structure which are so valued, because of Covid 19."
"Also the closure and diversions to services, as a result we've seen demand for our services increase by 280%."

Move Beyond Autism Awareness
The charity's urging the public to move beyond awareness, to acceptance this World Autism Day.
It's laying down a challenge, asking people to learn about one thing they can do to be more Autism friendly.
As I Am has organised a number of events that run up until the 20th of April (details here) to celebrate the month.
