Two investigations are underway after a man in his 20s suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a car in Limerick last night.
The silver vehicle came to the attention of Gardaí at the Roxboro Roundabout shortly after 11pm.
Officers pursued the car along Childres Road and Ballinacurra Road.
The injured man, who was on a scooter at the time, was struck by the car at a pedestrian crossing near the Crescent Shopping Centre.
Two men, who were travelling in the car, fled from the scene on foot.
GSOC has begun an investigation, due to Gardaí interacting with the car shortly before collision.
Gardaí said the injured man is "in a critical condition" at University Hospital Limerick.
They appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with camera footage of the collision or the moments before or after, to contact Gardaí.
