Attackers kicked in the door of a house in West Dublin before shooting dead a father of three last night.
Gardaí are looking for two or three people who were involved in the murder of 35 year old Darragh Nugent. He was gunned down on Wheatfield Avenue at around 9:40pm last night.
They're appealing for information from anyone who saw an old saloon car, possibly a BMW, leaving the scene at at that time yesterday evening. The shooting is not believed to be connected to the Hutch Kinahan feud, but is thought to be gang-related.
"It's our understanding at this stage ... that yes, the door was kicked in by at least one perpetrator", says Superintendent Dermot Mann from Lucan Garda Station.
"This is a father of i understand a number of small children and yes, and that makes it all the more horrific".
The area remains sealed off and a forensic examination is taking place.
