Josepha Madigan says the use of words like chairman, spokesman and fireman could be creating an unconscious bias.
She's even suggested changing name of the Kerryman newspaper.
She says a simple change in language can impact children greatly.
"I want to ensure that young girls, when they're growing up, that they don't rule themselves out of certain positions just because they see a tax man or weather man."
But Michael Healy has described the complaint as "absolute balderdash".
The Independent TD for Kerry said he's sold the newspaper in his shop for thirty years.
"I've never in my life heard of a lady come in and pick it up and say "that's an awful headline"".
He said the notion is "political correctness gone mad".
I consider myself a #feminist but changing a newspaper’s name from #KerryMAN to Kerry People to keep the PC brigade happy is just nuts. What next? We refer to PeopleKind? One People Bands? PeopleUAL labour? Madness!
