A Kerry priest has questioned if Catholics should pay their TV licence.
That's following a scene in Fair City at the weekend.
It's claimed the scene is disrespectful to the Catholic faith.
This is the scene from Fair City, broadcast on Sunday, which sparked the controversy.
Character Ger Lynch approached Fr Liam Plunkett to discuss a night they shared when they were teenagers, and ended up with a child.
Fr Kevin McNamara from the parish of Moyvane claims that it is an 'inaccurate' portrayal of how confession works:
"I think it was totally disrespectful, that's now how confession works."
Also in the scene, alcohol is consumed under the seal of confession as well.
While at one stage Ger Lynch, played by Tina Kelleher, is smoking.
Fr McNamara added this part where she got aggressive was inaccurate as well:
"That's not the way confession works."
Fr McNamara says confession has to have an "attitude of heart," where a person comes to express sorrow and their willingness to change.
He added that it's not the first time disrespect was shown to the Catholic faith, saying he felt 'hurt' by the scene.
