The IRFU have declined an Austrailain offer for a three match test series between Austrailian women's side and Ireland.
Irish rugby fans and players have slammed the IRFU for turning down the chance for the women's team to tour Australia alongside the men, despite an offer from the Australian Rugby Union to cover all of the Irish team's costs except for their flights.
Takes a lot of courage to do this. Proud teammate. https://t.co/Dj8SVCyvdH

Sick of staying quiet about missed ops for shared learning. Been working on a paper investigating a model of promo and dev in women's sport that could be sustainable for wom rugby in Ireland, but what’s the point. When a key charac of successful models is integrating with the men https://t.co/OA95OFZ2FM

Things the #IRFU have done for the women's team in the last year:
X - downgraded their coach to part-time
X - turned down primetime TV slots
X - turned down a tour of AustraliaIt's time the IRFU took the women's game seriously.https://t.co/9t0M2RVJUW

Turning down a series in Oz is a slap in the face for development of Irish women’s 15s rugby. Must be absolutely demoralising for players.

A real slap in the face for the progression of women’s rugby... it doesn’t seem the players were even consulted on the matter? The home side even offering to cover accommodation costs! https://t.co/VcMX5B05iC

At this point, could the IRFU just admit they have little interest in women’s rugby because it feels like they’re continuing to do more harm than good https://t.co/i44SJ5yaEd
