Ireland has been ranked as the 13th happiest country, according to the latest World Happiness Report
The UN sponsored World Happiness index named Finland as the happiest country for the fifth year in a row, followed by Iceland, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
The index has ranked Afghanistan as the unhappiest, closely followed by Lebanon.
The latest list was compiled before the Russian invasion of Ukraine so it does not take into account the current conflict in Europe.
Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Botswana ranked low on the list also.
The report is now in its 10th year and is based on self-report measures which means that people report how happy the feel. The research also takes in to account economic and social data.
Scandinavian countries and Northern Europe are again top performers in the report with Finland and Denmark doing very well.
