The HSE believes the number of Covid-19 vaccines administered will pass the 2 million mark today.
As of last night, over 1,971,000 vaccines have been administered.
HSE CEO Paul Reid says 37% of adults have received their first dose.
"1.4 million people have now received their first dose of the vaccine."
"That's 37.1% of the adult population."
"Over 500,000 people (533,835) have received their second dose."
"So that's 13.8%, which is almost one in seven."
Just informed by @HSELive that we are likely to reach the total of 2 million #CovidVaccines given out across Ireland by the end of today.
Another important milestone in our rollout – and tribute to the dedication of vaccines teams up and down the country. pic.twitter.com/A2jbqIWh5O— Micheál Martin (@MichealMartinTD) May 13, 2021
Minister Says End Of June Is "Ambitious"
The Health Minister says offering a vaccine to everyone who wants one by the end of June is a "very ambitious target".
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar claimed it might be possible to do that.
It's given 10-15% of people in other countries haven't wanted a vaccine.
In the Dáil today he said he meant people could have an appointment by that stage - if not an actual injection.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said the Tánaiste's comments haven't changed their plan:
"If the deliveries continue to arrive in, we're on track for about 4 in every 5 adults who want a vaccine to be offered one [by June]."
"The latest analysis we have suggests that everyone who wants a vaccine can be fully vaccinated by September."
