An Irish psychotherapist has lifted the lid on hoarding.
If you hoard things in different parts of your house; it could be a sign of anxiety.
Irish psychotherapist Stella O'Malley has discussed a link between hoarding and anxious tendencies.
A survey from 2015 suggested that 38 per cent of Irish people have hoarding habits.
The same survey found that 36 per cent of people are adversely affected by a partner's hoarding.
Psychotherapist Stella O'Malley has this advice for anyone concerned about a loved one:
"If you do kind of have somebody you love and they're a hoarder," she said.
"You'd be better off talking to them about going for help for their anxiety"
Global research suggests that between 2.6 and 5 per cent of people have extreme hoarding issues.
An extreme hoarding habit leads to those finding it difficult to get in and out of their homes.
