The teenage children of Jason Corbett came face-to-face with the people accused of killing their father yesterday.
The Limerick businessman was beaten to death in North Carolina in 2015.
Father and daughter, Tom and Molly Martens were convicted of second-degree murder in 2017, but that was overturned last year.
At yesterday's hearing, no date for the retrial was set and it's unlikely to happen until the autumn.
The Irish Independent's Ralph Riegel says Jason's children, Jack and Sarah, encountered the Martens for the first time in seven years yesterday.
He said that Tom and Molly Martens upon entering the court did not look toward Jason Corbett's children and did not acknowledge them.
It is unknown when the retrial date is to be after the preliminary administrative hearing.
It's been a year since the North Carolina supreme court upheld a decision to over turn Molly Martens and Thomas Martens' convictions.
