Funeral of Gay Byrne
Gay Byrne's funeral has heard he was an extraordinary man, who had a remarkable presence in Irish life.
Hundreds are attending the service for the legendary broadcaster this afternoon in Dublin's Pro Cathedral.
Gay Byrne lived in Howth, Co Dublin for many years, so it was only appropriate his funeral cortège passed through the village this morning to allow local people to say one final goodbye.
The President and also the Taoiseach are among those attending the service at the Pro Cathedral.

Household names from the worlds of broadcasting, politics, and entertainment have traveled to pay their respects to his wife Kathleen, his two daughters, his sons in law and his five grandchildren.
After the mass, the cortège will pass through Cathal Brugha Street and O'Connell Street.

The burial will take place in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton.
