Drugs seizures
A number of drugs seizures were made within minutes of Electric Picnic gates opening in Stradbally yesterday evening.
General admission to the campsites was at 9 o'clock this morning, but early access ticket holders were able to gain entry yesterday.
Cocaine, Ketamine, LSD and MDMA was seized by Gardaí, including packets of white powder hidden in a Lynx shower gel bottle.
Party drug dangers
Meanwhile the HSE is warning there's no such thing as a 'bad batch' of drugs.
It says poor quality drugs shouldn't be blamed when someone dies from an overdose.
The Health Service says people need to realise all drugs are dangerous.
Dr Eamon Keenan from the HSE's Addiction Services says if people are going to take drugs, they want them to be safe.
"Start low, go slow. Conscious of the fact MDMA strength is increasing, we're asking people to take a small amount and then wait two hours before they take any more," he said.
"Obviously it's much better if somebody doesn't take drugs and we don't condone any drug use at all -- but we are pragmatic. We do know people take drugs, and we [want to] try and minimise the harms associated with it."
