Gardaí in Dublin have launched an investigation into an assault of a woman at a DART station last month.

The incident was captured on video.

It shows a woman being physically intimidated by a group of teens.

That's before falling between the platform and the train.

Credit To Bystanders For Acting Quickly

The now viral video dates back to the start of April.

It shows a woman making her way down the platform at Howth Junction.

A teenage boy blocked her way with his bike.

In an attempt to dodge him, she fell between the platform and the train.

Mark Gleeson is from Rail Users Ireland.

He says if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of bystanders and security, the incident could have been fatal:

"We need to track down these individuals and make sure they're brought to justice."

"Had the security not been present, that train would have pulled off, because the doors were closing."

Union Wants Garda Division To Deal With Behaviour

Dermot O’Leary is the General Secretary of the National Bus and Rail Union.

He says a dedicated Garda division is needed to handle anti social behaviour:

Dermot says the private security firms that are deployed in stations don't have the power to arrest like a Garda.

"As far as we're concerned that private security has not worked."

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing but no arrests have been made.
