Plans for a new €300 million development in an area of Galway city have been given the green light.
The site will include hundreds of apartments, a hotel, restaurants and a cinema.
The "Augustine Hill" development is located just beside the train station in Galway.
It's also within a five minute walk of Eyre Square.
The plans approved by Galway City Council are a scaled-down version of the original proposals by developer Edward Capital.
There'll be over 400 residential units, a 180-bed hotel, a cinema, restaurants and shops.
It's also including 11 new fully pedestrianised streets and 4 large public plazas.
Green Party councillor Martina O'Connor says it could unlock the area's potential:
"We can't continue this business of commuting in and out of the city."
"It's breaking everybody emotionally, and there's health implications with all of the emissions."
"So it'll be great to have a substantial portion of city living available for new people."
Augustine Hill will be guided by principles for Galway to live, work and play sustainably in the coming decades we aim to create a vibrant community on a brownfield site, a vital rejuvenation for Galway. We look forward to the next stage of the process. pic.twitter.com/hIimSl6n8S

The Council Has Attached Conditions Though
However the city council's approval comes with over 50 conditions.
So those are relating to the project's scale and density.
Galway Chamber has welcomed it as a big leap forward for the sustainable regeneration of Galway.
The estimates are suggesting that it'll support over 600 jobs over the six years of construction work.
It'll also deliver a boost of about 80 million to the developer.
