Energia has become the latest energy company to sharply increase its prices ahead of the winter.
The supplier says electricity customers will see an increase of 29%, while gas bills will rise by 39%.
The change will be implemented on Friday, the 7th of October, and will increase the average gas and electricity bill by around 10 euro a week.
The move will impact around 160 thousand electricity customers and 60 thousand gas users.
Daragh Cassidy from Bonkers says it's going to be a tough winter.
"Unfortunately it looks as if we could see more price increase in the coming weeks and months.
"This is all of course being driven by the record price of gas in the wholesale markets which is up around 1,000% compared to where it was around 12-18 months ago.
"It's going to be a tough winter, a long winter and we have to hope it's going to be a mild one."
