Sea Swimming Showers, Changing Areas And Lockers
As well as showering and changing areas, these facilities will also contain storage and induction spaces as well as being fully wheelchair accessible.
They wont just be confined to beaches, but along lakes and rivers where water sports complexes already exist.
Minister Catherine Martin hopes it will help to extend the Summer season:
"It will support these activities and tourism businesses."
Adding to that the Minister says, "It will support the local economy and that outdoor activity sector."
"It will provide new business opportunities to local communities."
Among the areas that will get one of the 22 facilities are water sports centres in Killaloe in Clare, Nenagh in Tipperary and Achill Island.
They will also be developed at popular beaches in Ballybunion in Kerry, Bundoran in County Donegal and Tramore in Waterford.
It's expected they will be completed by next summer, before a potential second round in 2023.
