There have been two further deaths from COVID-19 in Ireland, the Department of Health confirmed.
The total number of people who have died from the virus now stands at 1,753.
21 new cases have also been confirmed today, bringing the total number of cases to 25,750.
The figures, accurate as of midnight on Friday, include the denotification of one death and one case following the validation of data at the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
The Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “Arming ourselves with knowledge is the best defence we have against COVID-19.
