NPHET is concerned with rise in COVID-19 cases
NPHET has recommended the entire country be moved to the highest level of COVID-19 restrictions.
Officials met yesterday amid concerns over the growing numbers of cases, with nearly 1,000 confirmed over the weekend.
A move to level five restrictions would essentially mean a second national lockdown, but schools would remain open.

The leaders of the three government parties will meet with the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan later to discuss the recommendations.
What would Level 5 look like?
Level five is the highest level of restrictions under the Government’s Living with COVID plan.
It would mean a range of restrictions including:
- All but essential retail will be closed.
- Restaurants and pubs being limited to takeaway and delivery only.
- A limit of ten mourners at funerals and six guests at weddings.
- No household visits.
- People would be asked to stay at home wherever possible, and exercise within 5km of their home.
- All but essential workers would be told to work from home.
- Schools and childcare facilities would remain open.
In addition, all sports matches would be cancelled and gyms would be forced to shut.
