The Department of Health has been notified of 52 deaths related to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
33 of those deaths occurred this month, 12 took place in January while 6 took place in December or earlier.
One death is under investigation.
The median age of those who died is 83, with the age range between 55 and 96.
Meanwhile, the Department has also been notified of 886 new cases of the virus.
401 of today's cases are identified in men while 463 are in women.
Most people -65% - are under 45 years of age.
The median age is 35 years old.
Most of today's cases were identified in Dublin, where there are 281 new cases.
Elsewhere, there are 63 new cases in Galway, 56 in Kildare, 47 in Meath and 39 in Cork.
The remaining 380 cases are spread across all other counties.
Meanwhile, there have been 44 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.

In total, there are 984 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 172 of whom are in intensive care.
The 14 Day incident rate is estimated to be 299.6 cases per 100,000 population.
Deputy CMO "Cautiously Optimistic" About Case Numbers
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says he is "cautiously optimistic" about the epidemiological situation.
He said the "positive momentum" was achieved through the dedication of the public in recent weeks.

As of this week 242,353 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland.
