Covid 19: 455 Additional Cases & 14 Patient Deaths Reported

There have been 14 further deaths related to COVID-19 and 455 new cases confirmed this evening by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

Of the deaths reported today, three occurred in April, one in March, six occurred in February, and four happened in January.

The median age of those who died was 72.5 and the age range was 55 to 90 years.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths has now risen to 4,783, while the latest figures bring the total amount of cases here to 240,643.

Of the latest cases, 77% are under 45 years of age, while the median age is 30 years old.

As of 8am today, 208 people are now receiving treatment in hospital for the virus after 11 new admissions in the past 24 hours.

Of those patients, 52 are in ICU.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population now stands at 142.

The five-day moving average is now 438, while the seven-day incidence is 424.

Over 1 Million Covid Vaccine Doses Administered

Meanwhile, more than one million doses of the vaccine against coronavirus have been administered in Ireland to date.

Data shows that as of Thursday, 716,636 people had received their first dose of the inoculation.

A second dose has been given to 301,628 people, representing 6.1% of the total population.
