1,978 new cases of Covid-19 have been announced in Ireland today.
This morning, there were 221 coronavirus patients in hospital.
There were 43 in intensive care – 13 more than last week.
The deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said eight COVID patients have been admitted to intensive care in the past 24 hours.
“We have reported over 10,000 cases in the last week and, while we have very high incidence across Donegal, Monaghan, Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Louth and Cavan in particular, incidence is rising across all 26 counties,” he said.
The HSE says staff at vaccination centres are now back working on IT systems.
It says there was temporary disruption to the Covax vaccination system earlier today.
However, the HSE says the situation has now been rectified.
It says vaccinations continued without interruption despite the earlier disruption.
