1,163 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed today.
297 patients are in hospital with the virus - up 11 from yesterday.
It's also up slightly on this day last week, when 288 Covid patients were in hospital.
61 are in ICU, an increase of two on yesterday's figures.
Over 7,200 children tested positive for Covid-19 in the two week period that ended on Wednesday.
Less than 1,400 over-65s contracted the virus during the same period according to figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
The country's 14-day incidence rate has dropped to 389 per 100,000 people - down from nearly 500 at the beginning of the month.
Donegal has the highest rate, followed by Monaghan, Louth and Carlow.
Third Vaccine Dose
The HSE announced today that people who are immunocompromised will be offered a third dose of a Covid-19 vaccine from next week.
Health care professionals will identify patients over-16 who need a third dose.
Certain cancer patients, renal patients and people on certain medications will be offered appointments from Wednesday.
Vaccine and Immunology Expert Dr Anne Moore explains why people with compromised immune systems need more than two doses.
"If you've compromised immune system or if it's suppressed it's just not present or it's abhorrent and it's unable to respond to the vaccine.
"So the idea is if that you keep asking that compromised immune system by repeatedly giving it a vaccine to respond to that vaccine, then you hope that more people who have this compromised immune system will respond."
